The
are all excellent sources that I use myself. If I have trouble downloading or with the programs that I download
that source won't be listed here. So you should have very few problems with these places.
Shareware
is usually free to use for a set amount of time. Much of it is limited in function also. Read all the info carefully
so you will know what to expect after you get it. Some of this stuff is pretty hard to learn and it's aggravating
to work your tail off only to find you can't use what you have made. If you do get some shareware that you're going
to keep, be sure to honor the system and pay for it. By doing this you'll help encourage the software authors to
let us try their stuff before shelling out big bucks for it!
Freeware
is just what it says, Free...Look around , find what you want, or give them all a try! There are sources to literally
thousands of programs here, so there are many you can use. There is virtually every description of download available
here.So get to hunting and have fun.
If you
are new to downloading, remember to download to a place you can find. I use the desk top. When you unzip your new
download, do it to another easy to find place. I use the desk top/ new folder, always unzip to the same folder
the zip file is in.
Don't be afraid to change the names of the folders you put your download in. These programs are often so
abbreviated that it's easy to forget what the name belongs to. But don't change the name of the file itself!
Quick
Tip of the day is: After you get your program installed and are sure it is running ok, you can usually delete the
zip file and the file you installed from. The program sets up its own file and no longer needs these to run. After
you move them to the trash, be sure to run the program a day or 2 before emptying the re-cycle bin.
You
really should have a good "watchdog" utility to watch for bugs and stuff. I prefer the free AVG, get it here.
O.K.....Try them all...Have fun!...........Skeeter
