Mosquito Fish

DESCRIPTION

Mosquito fish commonly refers to either the Western or Eastern species of Gambusia.

The two species are so similar that they until recently were considered the same species. This guppy-like fish is usually between one and two inches in length, silver to gray in color and resembles the common minnow. It is very adaptable, tolerant of a wide range of water qualities and its expansion is only limited by severe climates.

The fish have a large appetite, and a single female (which normally is larger than a male) can devour several hundred mosquito larvae per day. Gambusia can reproduce rapidly and are unlike other fish in that they do not lay eggs; they bear live young. Each female can produce three to four broods in her lifetime, and each brood can vary from 40 to 100 young. Birth usually occurs during the warm spring and summer months. When the young are born, they are active and immediately swim for the nearest cover. Though they are only about 3/8-inch long, they will soon feed.

We have had these little guys for about 5 years now. We put 20 or so of them in a 7ft x 2ft stock tank to serve as feeder fish. Now we have several hundred. These are interesting little aquarium fish and a great pond fish. And they do help with mosquitos. We have left them out all winter in these cold SW Kansas winters with no more than a $35 dollar stock tank heater. They survived iced over ponds and 110 degree summers. They got no special feed and seems to thrive on about anything but they do prefer floating foods. All in all these are a great little fish and being live bearers just makes them more interesting. Perfect for beginning aquarists.

We are selling them in mixed m/f in lots of 12 for $12 with $15 shipping by USPS Priority Mail

Ghost Shrimp

An established freshwater aquarium of at least 10 gallons with plenty of hiding places and a mature substrate are the ideal setup for these Shrimp. It should be housed with small peaceful fish that will not pose a threat of eating these little guys.

DESCRIPTION

Ghost (Glass) Shrimp - Freshwater
(Paleomonetes sp.)

Ghost Shrimp, also known as Glass Shrimp, are a relatively small invertebrate only reaching a maximum size of 2". Their bodies are transparent, and an orange to yellow colored spot is visible in the center of the tail. The body is segmented, and features ten sets of legs. The first four sets have tiny claws that aid the shrimp in feeding.

Ghost shrimp are an excellent food source for many types of both freshwater and saltwater fish.

They are omnivores and will consume algae, detritus and left over food. If insufficient food is present, supplement with a quality flake food or pellet.

Ghost shrimp will breed in the aquarium if kept in large enough groups. The female carries the eggs, which appear as small green dots under the tail. If interested in raising the shrimp, remove the female to a different aquarium until the shrimp hatch. At that point, return the female back to the main aquarium and feed the baby shrimp newly hatched brine shrimp, rotifers, or a suitable liquid food.

4 Green Sword Tails (Juvies)

Neat little live bearers that seem to be constantly having babies. They aren'too bad about eating their young but will do so. If you don't use a cage to catch the babies, you'll want to watch close and get them away from their parents.

These little guys are just reaching the age where they realize there is a difference between boys and girls.

The photo is of the actual fish you'll be getting, so excuse the photography as they just would sit still for the camera.

50 Ramshorn Snails 50

.Buy them here with PayPal $20.

No, the fish aren't included.

What we're have here is 50 mixed sized ramshorn snails. I'm not sure what kind they are but I do know I paid a heck of a lot more for them when I bought 'em. LOL

They aren't hard on plants, they are good tank cleaners. They'll eat algae of the plants but not eat the plants. The fish consume far more plant matter than these snails do.

They make excellent fish food. The smaller fish eat the smaller snails if fed to them. Shelled prefered. The Oscars, Channel Cats, and larger Sunfish gobble them right up, shell and all, big or small, they are lip smackin good to these fish.

Well, I'll pack these fantastic snails in a proper bag, in an insulated, ice paked box send it them off to you, via

Post Paid Priority Mail for the low, low price of $20.
